Why Lie Angle Matters More Than You Think
Share
Do you know your lie angle?
Most golfers focus on shaft flex, loft, or grip — but few pay attention to one of the most important specs in the entire club build: lie angle.
Lie angle is the angle formed between the shaft and the sole of the club when it sits at address. It determines how the club interacts with the turf at impact — and that directly affects where your ball starts and how it curves.
If your lie angle is too upright, the toe lifts off the ground and the face points left (for a right-handed player). Too flat, and the heel lifts — sending your shots right.
In other words, even a 1–2° difference can be the difference between a tight dispersion pattern and missing every green to one side.
That’s why lie angle isn’t just a “tour player detail” — it’s essential for consistent contact and direction control.
At Laneway Golf, we measure and fine-tune lie angles during every custom build and fitting session. Whether you’re dialling in your irons, wedges, or putter, we make sure your clubs are set perfectly for your natural posture, swing plane, and turf interaction.
Because when your lie angles are right, everything else falls into place.
You can book in or call us for a fitting session and see the difference.
